While I would agree with some of the posts below, I prefer online articles to books when it comes to reading about a product like the Sonos or a new iPhone application. Online articles have the obvious advantage of having pictures but online articles can also have links to reviews of these products by cNet and other authorities of the trade.
However, if it were an article about say a political opinion or some scientific phenomenon, I would prefer to read a printed article rather than an online link just because firstly, the printed article has been reviewed and secondly, I personally read printed articles more seriously. Quoting from an earlier blog entry that I made regarding an article that I read about Google's influence on people when it comes to information seekin, I prefer print versions for such articles because when it goes online, I am in my online mode and start to skim over it, look for clues to proceed to the next paragraph and completely obliterate any overall suggestive meaning in the article.
I think for articles about technology products, I would go to Internet articles first and if it were something that I myself specialized in- like smartphones, I would get the Smartphone and Pocket PC magazine. It therefore finally boils down to more pictures or less pictures rather than online or print for me.
