My Thought of the Newspaper Industry and new potential research topic

I feel as though the newspaper industry is obsolete now a day. 50 or 60 years ago the newspaper was the hottest thing around next to the radio and television. With the creating and fast growing of the internet it has caused a decrease in people reading the newspaper. Our "younger" generation will not pick up a newspaper because the internet is so much more high tech and "easier" to deal with. The older generations still read newspaper, because they were brought up on newspaper and aren't as equip to the new technology. My personal thought is that I do not see the newspaper still in existence in the next few decades.

As stated in Newspapers and Thinking the Unthinkable, newspaper companies say that newspapers were going to struggle in the future because of the internet. Newspaper has tried alternative ways to still “hot on the market” but how technology is going it isn’t going to work style I like when Clay Shirky said that “People would resist being educated to act against their own desires. Old habits of advertisers and readers would not transfer online.” He’s saying that the people who always used newspaper would stick to newspapers and wouldn’t switch over to using the internet.It seems like to me that the world was separated into two groups radicals were the ones who imagine fabulous alternative futures and saviors where the people spinning visions of popular walled gardens and enthusiastic micropayment adoption, visions unsupported by reality.I agree with Clay in some ways like when he says that the world will still need writing documents like the newspapers and journals. Our world today is based around the internet; we can damn near find anything any article or any book on the net. Everyone isn’t caught up on the technology yet and still uses the newspaper to catch up on the latest news. Another option of a potential topic choice is designed by Dave Owsen’s concept for mass-transit is one that allows for privacy for its travelers, which is something that most public transportation systems shun. Community Transit, is made so that every passenger or select group of passengers have a private car. I guess it’s probably too much to call them private, as these things have a big transparent screen so you can be seen quite clearly by those outside. However, the space inside is enough for parents to travel in without having to worry about their children bothering anyone.
